What is the Centrifugal Process?
It is the process where molten metal is poured into a die that is composed of carbon graphite. This die is surrounded by a cooling "jacket" where water flows thus chilling and solidifying the cast tube, bar or shape. As the die exits from the furnace by gravity, the casting solidifies into it's intended shape. The solidified casting is then removed by pull rolls. The "chilling" process reduces the size of the grain allowing the casting to exit from the lower section of the holding furnace yielding a casting with a homogenous micro-structure.
Availability
The Wrought Alloys can be made in Centrifugal Cast. However, these alloys would only be made to the chemical equivalent of the wrought specification. The following shapes would be available : Tubular Shapes
The Cast Alloys can be made in Centrifugal Cast. These alloys would be made to the chemical and physical specifications as outlined per alloy. The following shapes would be available : Tubular shapes.
Advantages over other Casting Methods:
- Structure is dense making it designed to withstand heavy loads with impacts without fracture
- Physical properties are increased up to 30% over other casting methods.
- Eliminates the expense of buying, maintaining, and storing patterns
- A numerous range of sizes, shapes, and quantities providing economical production
- Thousands of die casts are available
- Suitable for Ferrous & Non-Ferrous materials
- Withstands substantial hydraulic pressures without leaking
Wrought Alloys : C40000 - C70000
Cast Alloys : C80000 - C90000
